Finally, here we are ready to go with an update after months of 'nothing'. Still there is plenty to catch up on since our last news. Some sad news first of all that we lost Willow at the age of nearly 14 years. Our Polish girl came from the Lordsett kennel of Marcin & Kasia and spent her whole life with us, living healthily until the very end. She produced two litters here at Peasblossom with her most notable offspring, 'Pepe' (Ch Peasblossom Poet) leaving us to join the Trainor's Arawhiti kennel in New Zealand. Her grandson, is currently the Top Rising Star in Australia. Rest in peace dearest Willow <3.
Puppies from our last litter from Grettel and Rocco left us at the end of the year to go to far flung places such as Canada, Latvia, Romania and the UK. Peasblossom Daredevil (Kevin) has joined Julie Shovel at the Tiverstone kennel in Somerset. My first ever springer came from this kennel so it seems we have come full circle and we wish Julie and Kevin all the very best of everything as he begins his new show career. More on his progress to come soon hopefully. 'Neptune' (P Desperado) joined Inga Cerbule and her kennel of Australian Shepherds and has already made a great start in the ring as well as a lot of new friends. 'Zara' (P Duet) has joined Sergui, Ludmila, Paul and Billy in Romania and we are so excited at what is to come from her in the future. Two other girls from this litter will stay in Croatia: Dixie has moved to our friend, Iva Sega while Dilly has stayed here with us. Hopefully we will share photos of all them at some point but we are feeling quite excited to see how they all develop over the coming months.
Early in January, Anna's (P Zoya) litter to Pete arrived in the UK. Seven babies, three girls and four boys. I was expecting an entire litter of black and white puppies but we were surprised to see that actually three of them were liver! One girl will be co-owned by us and Clare Hill of Teignvalley springers and she will remain in the UK. Two other girls will stay in the UK and we look forward to possibly seeing them in the ring too. Time, of course, will tell.
During the middle of January, I had the honour of judging English Springers at Manchester Championship Show in the UK with a super entry of 72. I awarded Best of Breed to Sh Ch Meadowdale Daisydale Lightning Bolt, with BOS Potrail Turns The Swag On for Pinereoch. She was also Best Veteran. RCCs went to Greg De Le Tres Llacunes and Sh Ch Melverly Vignette. Best Puppy was Beresford Stand And Stare and Best Special Beginners, Meonstoke Wild Cherry at Harvancourt. Photos to follow! But it was a lovely day and I was very lucky to have an entry full of quality.
And then to Crufts!!! I was already in the UK looking after Anna's puppies but Dave came over bringing our two boys for the opinion of this year's Crufts judge, Diane Conrad (Strathnaver). It turned out to be another of our very special Crufts days - how lucky we have been over the years. Cooper was entered in, and won his Special Yearling class. Rocco was entered, of course, in the very big Open Class which he also won. Ultimately Rocco was awarded the Dog CC and Best of Breed after challenging his CC-winning daughter, Billie (Dexbenella Double Or Quit). How fantastic! But our breeding had other successes on the day, in the hands of their owners and we congratulate Sheila and Ted for their fourth in Veteran Dog, Liam and Elaine for third in Post Grad Dog, Elfie for second in Post Grad Bitch and finally Clare with Lizzie on their second place in Limit Bitch. As always a really enjoyable day spent with springer friends at that very special show.
