A long time since any updates, apologies for that! We have been to a few shows since the last news with some great results. We entered three championship shows and a breed club Open Show in the UK. Cooper, our young boy, took Best In Show at the Lancs & Cheshire show under judge, Liz Brown. On the same day, at City of Birmingham Champ Show, he won Best of Breed Junior and his Dad, Rocco, took the Dog CC. Judge was Kirsty Miller. Sadly, the other two champ shows we had entered were both cancelled due to bad weather. Here in Croatia and Slovenia, we have been to a few shows with Cooper and Pixie including the European Dog Show where there was a change of judge the day before for Springers. Cooper was placed second in Junior and Pixie won Intermediate Bitch. Suffice to say, this was not a judge we would have chosen to spend 200 Euros on, lets say that! :)

Puppy news and our dear Grettel has produced her second and last litter for us. Nine babies were born on Friday 13th September of all days!! Five boys and four girls all doing well. We are looking for a home possibly for a black and white female. Photos added to the Current Litters page!

Regarding other puppy plans, sadly the original plan of which there were many (!), have changed again. Joey, the lovely young Swedish boy is on hold for the future. Anna is now in season, more than six weeks late and our new plan is to take her to the UK to a super male there. More on that shortly. The hoped for babies - both black & white and liver & white expected - will be born in Somerset early in January and we hope to find the best family homes for these special ones.

Good news, finally, that Grettel is expecting puppies. They are due around the middle of September and it will be our first litter for more than a year. These puppies will be a repeat mating of Cooper so we are very much looking forward to seeing if there will be some more just like him :) No show news still - temperaments are way too high to consider going to a dog show. We are, however, taking some of the dogs back to the UK for shows so news to follow on that shortly ...

No show news - way too hot for that! But Dave has been judging in the UK at the Southern English Springer Spaniel Society Championship Show. His main winners were: Sh Ch Melverly Iridescent BCC and Best In Show, Sh Ch Dexbenella Atticus Finch DCC and Best Opposite Sex and Best Veteran. Best Puppy In Show was Teignvalley New Beginnings and the Reserve CC winners were respectively Greg De Les Tres Llacunes and Dexbenella Double Or Quit. Photos below:

Quite a bit of news to share, the most important being the fact that we lost our beloved Rafferty. He had been exceptionally healthy until very recently, when age finally caught up with him. He would have been thirteen in October and was the very best dog we could have ever wished for in every respect. He was so beautiful with the loveliest and kindest temperament and a truly special show dog. We will miss him always and treasure every single memory he left us with. We prepared the following tribute to him (with a lot of help of course!)

Last month we took a trip back to the UK to visit dear friends and to go to a dog show of course. This time it was Border Union, in Kelso, for the opinion of judge, Dawn Swales. Both Cooper and Rocco won their respective Junior and Open classes and Rocco went on to be awarded the Dog CC. Anna was placed third in Open Bitch. It was a lovely show and as always a pleasure to see everyone. We have a few more shows entered, but nothing here imminently due to the heat. No fun for the dogs or us right now with 35 degree heat!!

Finally puppy news :) Sadly with the loss of Rafferty we missed the opportunity to mate Nancy as planned. We had to make a long journey to the stud dog and it just wasn't feasible. Life gets in the way of plans sometimes. However, we hope for puppies from Nancy next time. Grettel is now in season and will be mated, as planned, to Rocco. This will be a repeat mating of our young Cooper so quite exciting. Other puppy plans involve Anna too who will be in season in September or October. So now we are thinking of males for her. Info on that will follow soon :)
